Carl Sik has built his career in the local dental industry since 2005, serving in a private practice environment prior establishing his own practice in November 2006.

Noticing the limited availability of specialised, quality home dental care products online and outside of dental practices, Carl set out to create a quick and easy way to bring premier home dental care products directly to consumers’ homes. What makes Smile Shop unique is that each product sold on our site is tested an hand selected and personally recommended by a dentist, to give consumers the optimal tools for home oral health care, without having to visit a clinical office to make a purchase of premium dental products.

  • In your experience, what are some of the most common home dental care mistakes that people make?

Not flossing and brushing once a day or for too short a time are some common mistakes. Many people often brush too hard, removing enamel from the teeth and leaving them sensitive and exposed. Toothbrushes with timers and electric toothbrushes help to prevent this.

  • What is your secret to good oral health?

Brushing twice a day with a good toothbrush, flossing regularly (the air-flosser makes this very quick and easy) and visiting your dentist every 6 months.

  • What are three things in your life that make you smile?

There are actually four – my wife, daughter and two sons. Their different personalities never fail to entertain me and keep me smiling.
